If you’re looking for your next dream job, consider this one in BMO’s Enterprise Risk Group where every colleague helps protect and grow the bank by providing independent review and oversight of enterprise-wide risks, working together to maintain a risk management framework and fostering a strong risk culture. #ERPMDreamJobs

We are seeking a highly organized and delivery-focused Project Manager & Delivery Lead to support end-to-end model development, validation, and implementation across multiple business and technical teams. This role works at the intersection of data science, model governance, engineering, operations, and business strategy, ensuring that models are developed, approved, deployed, and monitored efficiently and in compliance with internal and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in project management, delivery execution, and structured methodologies (PMP, Lean Six Sigma) applied to highly analytical and regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities

Model Development & Implementation Delivery

  • Lead the delivery lifecycle for models-from scoping and development through validation, approval, deployment, and post‑implementation monitoring (PIM).

  • Work closely with data scientists, modelers, risk teams, validators, MRM (Model Risk Management), engineering, and business owners to maintain alignment.

  • Maintain detailed project plans and timelines for multiple concurrent model projects.

  • Manage dependencies across data sourcing, feature engineering, model training, documentation, testing, and deployment.

  • Facilitate model implementation activities including:

    • Technical specification reviews

    • Code integration with engineering teams

    • Model testing (UAT/SIT)

    • Cutover and deployment readiness

  • Ensure all delivery artifacts (documentation, governance checkpoints, testing results) are completed on time.

Model Governance & Compliance

  • Coordinate governance deliverables such as:

    • Model Development Documentation (MDD)

    • Validation reports

    • Model change documentation

    • AUC/KS/PSI backtesting, monitoring metrics

    • Regulatory or audit evidence packages

  • Ensure projects follow internal standards (SR 11-7, OCC 2011-12, or enterprise governance guidelines).

  • Prepare and support model risk reviews, challenger reviews, and independent validations.

  • Track and manage findings, remediation items, and required monitoring updates.

Project Management & PMO Delivery Excellence

  • Create project charters, work breakdown structures (WBS), schedules, and dashboards.

  • Maintain RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) with clear mitigation plans.

  • Provide consistent executive‑ready updates through status reports, metrics, and dashboards.

  • Drive structured decision-making through solid facilitation and scenario planning.

  • Ensure project scope, timelines, and quality standards are maintained.

  • Manage vendor/partner interactions where third‑party modeling tools or services are involved.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Serve as the central point of coordination among modelers, engineers, validators, governance, and business users.

  • Communicate complex analytical/modeling topics in clear, non-technical language.

  • Facilitate governance meetings, design discussions, and cross-team working sessions.

  • Influence stakeholders to drive timely decisions and remove blockers.

Continuous Improvement (Lean Six Sigma)

  • Use Lean/Six Sigma tools to streamline the model development/implementation lifecycle.

  • Reduce bottlenecks tied to data readiness, documentation quality, or validation cycles.

  • Lead root cause analyses (RCA) on model defects, delays, and post-go-live issues.

  • Implement process standardization: templates, checklists, workflows.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management or delivery lead experience in analytics, data science, machine learning, or model-focused environments.

  • Understanding of model development lifecycle (MDLC), machine learning workflows, or risk/quant processes.

  • Experience working with data teams, model developers, risk/validation, and engineering teams.

  • Strong communication and executive presentation skills.

  • Advanced proficiency with project management tools (MS Project, Jira, Azure DevOps, Smartsheet).

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP Certification strongly preferred.

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt a plus.

  • Experience with model governance frameworks such as SR 11-7, OCC guidelines, or enterprise MRM.

  • Familiarity with Python, R, SAS, AWS, Azure ML, or MLOps concepts (not hands-on coding, but conceptual knowledge).

  • Knowledge of financial, credit, pricing, or operations models.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Delivery governance & execution leadership

  • Analytical thinking / ability to translate model work into PM terms

  • Regulatory & model governance familiarity

  • Risk management & decision facilitation

  • Technical understanding of data/model workflows

  • Strong documentation and process discipline
