Designs, develops, tests, and implements tools for financial crimes prevention and detection using Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and predictive analytics. Researches, builds, and implements scalable machine learning and knowledge graph based models capable of training on BMO & approved external data to predict anamolous patterns requiring actions.

  • Machine Learning & Operations. Designs and develops machine learning (ML) and deep learning systems. Runs machine learning tests and experiments. Trains and retrain systems to prevent drift and optimize results
  • Develops ML algorithms to analyze huge volumes of historical data to make predictions. Develops Machine Learning apps, implements algorithms, and builds tools to apply ML frameworks
  • Enhances data pipelines and lakes to ensure data is clean, accurate, and optimized for machine learning models
  • Monitors, evaluates, and optimizes learning processes to continuously improve high-performance models
  • Natural Language Processing (NLP)/Natural Language Generation (NLG) Implementation
  • Discovery & inventory of patterns and enablement of scaled anomaly detection
  • Develops predictive models, uses advanced analytical algorithms and technologies to mine and analyze large sets of structured and unstructured data to obtain insights
  • Conducts large-scale analysis of information to discover patterns and trends by combining different modules and algorithms
  • Applies knowledge of advanced analytic algorithms and technologies (e.g. machine learning, deep learning, artificial intelligence) to deliver better predictions and/or intelligent automation that enables smarter business decisions, improved customer experience, and drives productivity
  • Investigates additional technologies and tools for developing innovative data solutions for the FCU. Leverages new analytical techniques to support prevention, detection and investigation
  • Supports the development of the strategy and roadmap for data quality, data analytics, data modeling, reporting, business intelligence, and the design and development of sophisticated decision support tools

Qualifications:

  • Typically 15+ years of relevant experience and/or certification in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, or other quantitative disciplines and/or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with distributed computing language (e.g. Hive / Hadoop/ Spark) & cloud technologies (e.g. AWS Sagemaker, AzureML).
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g. SQL, Python, R, SAS, SPSS, , Perl) and machine learning /deep learning algorithms/packages (e.g. XGBoost, H2O, SparkML).
  • Seasoned expert with extensive industry knowledge, including fraud management practices, policies and procedures in large multi-product, multi-business environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of risk and regulatory requirements and management as they apply to fraud or other criminal risk
  • Technical leader viewed as a thought leader for innovation.

The salary range for this role is $195,000 - $220,000

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
