This role is accountable for leading the evolution and development of a robust Integrated Risk Insights function for Enterprise Risk Management. This role also requires the ability to understand the highly quantitative aspect of many risk disciplines and to bring the business perspective forward to the quantitative discipline, utilizing results of such quantitative analytics to ensure integration of insights and application across ERPM for risk appetite and portfolio management strategies. Working closing with both quantitative as well as business colleagues, the ability to communicate on both a technical/quantitative and business basis is important for success. This role includes leading the integration of risk appetite and portfolio management considerations into the Capital Allocation process, acting as ERPM lead in developing the framework for the integration and execution of the process, developing and executing a framework for aggregate Risk Appetite setting on an annual basis, and developing and delivering integrated risk insights to senior leadership to enable portfolio and risk led actions. This role is accountable to work with senior business leaders, senior risk leaders (including the CRO), and finance colleagues, to achieve objectives in Integrated Risk Insights. As a central function, this role is instrumental in ensuring a holistic overview of the portfolio and assessment and execution of strategies to ensure alignment to risk appetite and to optimize portfolio management for the Enterprise.

  • Integration of risk appetite and portfolio management considerations into the capital planning and allocation process; act as ERPM lead in execution of risk requirements and considerations through the capital allocation process annually and dynamically through the year, ensuring focus on maximizing ROE while optimizing capital and maintaining risk appetite parameters
  • Establish framework for aggregate risk appetite setting, and disaggregation of risk appetite to Tier 1 Risk (Credit, Market, ONFR)
  • Annually set aggregate risk appetite in conjunction with senior leadership, coordinate disaggregation to Tier 1 Risks, conduct ongoing monitoring against annual risk appetitetive role in the futuristic display of data, and advancement of innovative data strategies to understand consumer trends and address business problems.
  • Develop framework / target operating model for integrated insights across ERM, including reporting standards, aggregation channels, and delivery mechanisms
  • Utilizing established framework, deliver strategic insights and recommended actions to executives leveraging, elevating and connecting analytics across functions
  • Uses analysis to provide recommendations and advice for business leaders to maintain to maintain market competitiveness.

Qualifications:

Knowledge:

  • 10+ years of relevant banking experience; preference to have experience in risk and / or finance / treasury domains, including roles in Enterprise Risk, Capital Management, capital optimization, risk strategy
  • Professional designation or graduate degree, such as MBA, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or accounting designation nice to have
  • In depth knowledge of BMO Risk Management approach and overall knowledge of BMO a plus;
  • Solid knowledge of BMO Risk Policies and Processes; including solid knowledge of credit risk policy and overall lending practices
  • Understanding of multi-jurisdictional legal / regulatory environment
  • Awareness of financial and business marketplace and risk issues affecting various industries, with particular focus on proactive management of current and future potential issues impacting on the businesses
  • Experience working in close partnership with stakeholders at various levels in a way that maximises their participation and leverages their support

Salary:

$132,600.00 - $231,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
