Description
The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Grade 12 graduate or equivalent required
• College Diploma in Office Administration -Medical preferred
• Intermediate level proficiency using the MS Office Suite of products required
• Accurate Computer keyboarding skills required
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology required
• Recent patient registration experience preferred
• Previous clerical experience in a medical or health care setting preferred
• Registers and requisitions patients for a variety of departments within Bluewater Health
• Operates telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing and inter-office calls
• Assigns appropriate beds for all inpatients, including direct, emergency, elective and repatriation cases.
• Review daily accommodation discrepancies and organize moves to appropriately place patients and gather maximum revenues (ward, semi-private, private).
• Follows and facilitates the repatriation process for patient transfer to Bluewater Health
• Collaborates with nursing to move patients to the appropriate level of care. Maintains and communicates a global picture of hospital capacity at all times.
• Utilizes effective verbal communication and decision making in acting as a liaison between the clinical departments in facilitating the continuous throughput of patients
• Works under pressure with strict timelines while multitasking work in a busy setting
• Participates in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
• Completes continuing education requirements as necessary
• Other related duties as assigned
Selection will be made on the basis of ability, experience and qualifications as per Article 11.04 of the SEIU Collective Agreement
