Description
The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Nursing is a self-regulated profession governed through the College. A nurse is responsible for practicing in accordance with the standards of the profession, and for keeping current and competent throughout his/her nursing career (College of Nurses of Ontario, 2009).
-Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario required
-Completion of a Cardiac Care Course or equivalent required
-Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
-Current IV certification and experience with IV initiation required
-Completion of the Canadian Triage Acuity Scale course (CTAS) required
-Completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred
-Completion of Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) within the last 2 years preferred
-Completion of Trauma Nursing Care Course (TNCC) within the last 2 years preferred
-Completion of Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention course within the last 2 years preferred
-BScN preferred
-Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Certification in Emergency preferred
-Member of RNAO preferred
-RNAO Best Practice Champion preferred
-Certified as a CTAS instructor preferred
-Completion of LEAN training within the last year preferred
-Completion of a Leadership/Management course preferred
Skill, Ability and Experience:
-Ability to apply critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution, and prioritization skills required
-Recent experience as a unit leader or other Leadership experience required
-Basic proficiency in the use of computers required
-5 years experience in Emergency Nursing within the last 10 years required
-Involvement and participation in committees or ED specific quality improvement initiatives required
-Demonstrated understanding of Pay-For-Results and Emergency Department specific metrics preferred
-Experience with electronic nursing documentation required
-Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with interdisciplinary care team required
-Assists with daily operations within the Emergency Department
-Facilitates effective collaboration and problem resolution within the interdisciplinary team -Participates in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives as needed
-Participates on unit based council and other committees/councils as needed
-Ensures accurate and timely implementation of change initiatives
-Completes continuing education requirements as necessary
-Ensures pay-for-results target metrics are being met
-Acts as a coach, mentor, resource and positive role model for new staff and students
-Other related duties as assigned
