Description
The Cross Cancer Institute is looking for motivated individuals to join our small team to continue exceptional service to ensure the patient care experience is a pleasant one. The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple service requests throughout a day. You will be a part of an interdisciplinary team but will work independently of each other to maintain the critical building systems throughout the hospital.
As a Temperature Control Mechanic/HVAC, you may perform maintenance, repair, alteration and installation of HVAC control devices, system configurations and air balancing.
Completion of a post-secondary education in a related trade or technology program.
A valid NAIT BEST/BAST diploma or related technical diploma is required. A minimum of 7 years’ experience as a Temperature Control Mechanic/HVAC Technician, including 5 years of building maintenance experience and 4 years in a complex healthcare environment, is required. Demonstrated experience analyzing HVAC system performance, mechanical codes, applicable CSA standards, manufacturer specifications, safety rules, and advanced troubleshooting is required. Proven ability to implement preventive maintenance programs, prepare technical documentation, feasibility input, cost estimates, and reports, and coordinate ordering of materials and supplies is required. Experience using Microsoft Visio and BMS operations is an asset. Proficiency with Outlook, Word, and Excel is required. The incumbent must be able to work independently, manage competing priorities, respond promptly to service requests, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality in accordance with organizational policy while functioning effectively in an interdisciplinary healthcare environment. The role requires the ability to lift or move heavy materials or equipment; work in awkward positions; work on ladders for extended periods; work in hot, dirty, or confined environments; and perform tasks involving sitting, bending, kneeling, and crouching without limitation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to meet all organizational policy requirements for employment are required.
Experience with Seimens control systems and programs. Experience in an acute care hospital maintenance environment is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work effectively under emergency conditions and in challenging situations is considered an asset. Knowledge of CSA Z317.2, ASHRAE 170, healthcare infection prevention and control requirements, and applicable work safety regulations is considered an asset.
