Description
The Opioid Dependency Program (ODP) provides oral medication (Suboxone, Sublocade, methadone, and Kadian (SROM) to clients with opioid use disorder. Narcotic Transition Services (NTS) provides designated narcotic drugs (DND) to clients with severe opioid use disorder. Medications prescribed at the clinic are used for addiction purposes and not for pain management. The Social Worker will be responsible for the initial assessment of clients wanting to access ODP services, as well as supervision of client flow, supporting clients in applications, psychosocial support and accessing other community services. They will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide wrap-around care to clients in the program. They will provide a range of generalist Social Work services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. These services may include psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, risk screening, counseling, case management & coordination, transition planning, prevention & promotion and public awareness activities. The position also involves consultation and collaboration with interprofessional team members and community agencies and requires the ability to work independently with occasional review, consultation and evaluation from a manager or clinical supervisor. The incumbent must be able to work independently with a high degree of judgment and must be able to work effectively as part of an interprofessional team and commit to strengthening team dynamics by actively facilitating interprofessional collaboration to enhance patient health outcomes. This position has some travel for outreach to meet case management needs.
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.
Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
BLS-C (Basic Rescuer) required or available for immediate training. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention required or available for immediate training. Minimum 3-5 years current clinical experience working with individuals who have mental health and addictions concerns. Outpatient/community experience. Experience with Connect Care. Experience developing and facilitating groups. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Experience working with individuals with Opioid Use Disorder a strong asset. Mindfulness about cultural and gender diversity and positive regard towards clients. Experience with multi-cultural recovery pathways. Knowledge of an Indigenous language & culture. Knowledge of systemic issues such as poverty and stigma. Knowledge of Mental Health Services Protection Act and Narcotic Transition Services regulations.
