Description
The Family Counselor provides individual and family counseling for adolescents admitted to an acute care psychiatric unit. Within the multi-disciplinary team, the family counselor provides the case management for discharge planning, therapy interventions, and clinical input into the care planning needs of the youth. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.
Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Master's degree in social work, Nursing, or Psychology. MSW must be able to provide restricted psychosocial interventions. 2 years of mental health experience in acute care or community required.
Completion of the Brain Story Certificate. Completed training in therapy models for adolescents and families Non-violent crisis intervention and BLS is preferred. Communicates effectively with team members. Knowledge of community resources within the Calgary zone. Completed clinical supervised hours for psychology.
