Join us in establishing the Stollery Centre for Excellence in Virtual Health (The Centre), a dynamic initiative leading innovation and integration of safe, appropriate, and patient-centered virtual care across the pediatric patient journey - both locally and within rural, remote, and Indigenous communities throughout Alberta. The Centre provides project management, change management, and evaluation expertise to projects that span from small, moderate to complex in nature. Project range from optimizing and expanding existing virtual care connections to innovating new modalities, involving one or multiple Stollery programs, AHS departments or zones, and often involve external stakeholders and dependencies with other internal and external projects. As a Senior Implementation and Evaluation Consultant, you will directly support groundbreaking projects shaping the future of pediatric virtual healthcare. As a seasoned professional, you will guide the project team as they develop the KPIs and success indicators. Your evaluation will provide clarify and enable leaders to understand the impact and value a specific project is generating and gather and share knowledge for continuous organizational improvement and learning. This role is located at the Walter C. Mackenzie Health Sciences Centre. Although rare, you may be required to travel outside of Edmonton area. Evening and weekend availability may occasionally be necessary.
In this role, the Senior Implementation and Evaluation Consultant will report to the Executive Director, Inpatients and Ambulatory. Your knowledge of program evaluation methods and how to gather and share learnings will be key to assessing the impacts of the Centre. You will be part of a cross-functional team, providing mentorship and guidance to project team members and provide leadership on key organizational, operational, and strategic initiatives within the Centre. Consulting with senior leadership when navigating complex situations and collaborating with a wide range of clinical and non-clinical stakeholders. By applying the AHS Virtual Care Evaluation Framework, a common evaluation approach to evaluating virtual care in AHS that includes a Logic Model and examples of evaluation questions, the Senior Consultant will develop and lead the evaluation of virtual care projects initiated by the Centre. The senior consultant will support capacity building through coaching and mentoring staff in evaluation and implementation practices. The role includes leading knowledge translation activities to ensure that findings from implementation and evaluation work are actionable and disseminated across stakeholders. The role also includes proactively identifying risks and barriers to implementation and developing mitigation strategies to support successful outcomes. The senior consultant will establish and monitor performance metrics to support continuous quality improvement across virtual care initiatives. Success in this role will be measured by the timely delivery of project milestones, the utility and quality of evaluation findings, stakeholder satisfaction, and the ability to drive actionable outcomes across virtual care initiatives.
A master’s degree in evaluation or a research-based discipline relevant to the role, such as psychology, education, public health, or sociology. A minimum of 5 years of in an implementation/evaluation within an organization of significant size and complexity. Minimum of three years’ experience within a healthcare environment is required. Demonstration of a strong understanding of research and evaluation methodology.
Progressive leadership experience over a period of at least 2-3 years in a health care environment. Appropriate designations and/or certifications/training in effective evaluation, research and/or knowledge management methods. Knowledge and demonstrated application of principles pertaining to evaluation/research methods and theory and/or knowledge management theories, practices and goals. Knowledge and demonstrated application of business planning, and project management theories, principles and practices. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Ability to plan, organize and manage short- and long-term initiatives and projects and deliver customer-focused results. Proficiency in written, verbal communication and technical skills is essential. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as a team player. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Comprehensive understanding of health sector integration within AHS. Completion of the Canadian Evaluation Society (CES) Credentialing Program or Implementation Science Certifications is a strong asset.
