Duration: 6 months
Location: 3 days a week required in the Markham office, subject to change
We are seeking a resourceful and forward-thinking Cybersecurity Network Analyst who is primarily responsible for positioning, configuration, provisioning and enhancing several types of network level tools and technologies. This would involve taking care of every aspect of network security and identifying and addressing security gaps in a network, as well as participating in Incident Response and alert triage.
The role is part of the Cybersecurity operations team. This person will interface closely with other Network infrastructure, security, engineering, and operations teams, and provide guidance to them on enhancing security posture from a network perspective. They will have a strong understanding of Network Security and effective interpersonal skills to operate in a large, tightly controlled financial environment.
What you'll do:
• Assist in creating policies on Network tools to defend network infrastructure from Cyber-attacks.
• Ensure firewall rules are reviewed to prevent malicious threats and unwanted behavior.
• Analyze network traffic logs during security investigations and incident response.
• Track, record, and monitor security issues via SIEMs, ticketing, and alerts.
• Ensure periodic testing of network infrastructure and overall system health.
• Be aware of the latest threats and advise on corresponding policies for NGIPS systems.
• Create and tailor reporting for management, and provide support as needed for projects and initiatives.
• Establish and manage relationships with key internal business customers and external suppliers.
• Prioritize and detail incident management from initiation to completion.
• Assist with the development of other operational/project documentation.
• Other related duties as assigned.
What you'll bring
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or Cybersecurity
• An active relevant cybersecurity certification, such as Security+, Network+, CCNA, etc.
• 1-3 years of experience working in an enterprise IT environment, with a primary focus in Cybersecurity (network security).
• Demonstrable expertise in network & cyber security, including hands-on experience with Proxies, Firewalls, Wireshark, CDN technology, SIEM, NGIPS, etc.
• Practical knowledge of proxy policy administration, management, and design.
• Experience with WSS, ProxySG (Bluecoat), and PACs are an asset.
• Knowledge of gateway security threats with an understanding of preventative technologies/controls.
• Awareness and use of security and privacy concepts (e.g. international and industry standards, legal and regulatory constraints, etc).
• Practical knowledge of operating systems (Windows, UNIX, etc) and networking protocols within them.
• Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals including IP addressing, OSI layers, routers, and switches, as well as network-related threats, attacks, and the techniques used to prevent them.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute and establish effective working relationships and collaborative work approaches with both internal and external peers.
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
