Your Opportunity

We are looking for an Events and Sponsorships Manager to lead and execute the firm’s events and sponsorship programs across Canada.

You will be responsible for developing and executing high-impact events and sponsorship plans, managing budgets and resources, and ensuring the deadlines and results of the team's plans are met. You will work closely with national leaders and internal teams to ensure strategic alignment and creative collaboration.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute internal and external events (in-person and virtual) and sponsorships to meet diverse business needs and create exceptional client experiences that elevate BDO’s brand and drive engagement in our chosen markets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, teams, and vendors to deliver successful events and sponsorship activations.
  • Review and evaluate event and sponsorship proposals, providing feedback and recommendations to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • In collaboration with procurement, negotiate event, sponsorship and vendor agreements to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Manage and/or support the operations of the team including:
    • intake, evaluation and implementation process for events and sponsorship requests, proposals, and contracts
    • tracking of sponsorships, events, vendors and related information to support planning, reporting and operational reviews
    • development and maintenance of resources and tools including the promotional products program
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of events and sponsorships and provide regular reports and insights to senior management.
  • Ensure events and sponsorship assets align with BDO’s brand.
  • Develop, manage and coach a team with a focus on high performance, operational excellence and collaboration.
  • Ensure operational excellence through alignment on best practices, standardized processes and procedures, success metrics, and technology to continuously enhance event quality, operational effectiveness, and client/stakeholder experience.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that develops, retains, and attracts top talent.

Your Education & Qualification

  • You have a post-secondary degree in events/sponsorship management or related field
  • You have 5+ years of experience managing and executing events and sponsorships
  • You have experience managing a team, including performance management, learning and development planning, and coaching
  • You have experience in supplier management, including vendor due diligence, contract negotiations, goal setting, management/alignment, and accountability
  • You have extensive knowledge of in-person and virtual event platforms and tools
  • You have exceptional interpersonal skills and a collaborative nature, with an ability to build strong relations with all levels of the firm and work in a cross-functional team environment
  • You have strong business acumen with an ability to understand BDO's business, marketplace and value proposition
  • You have excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to positively influence stakeholders at all levels, lead, allocate resources and manage change in a matrix environment
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication, as well as the ability to present and facilitate
  • You are a calm, resilient, flexible and creative problem solver, including when faced with onsite modifications and issues
  • You have exceptional project management and organizational skills
  • You have experience with managing and monitoring event budgets
  • You are a driven self-starter with a proactive approach to serving professionals at all levels
  • You are able to travel to meetings and events in person on a regular basis
