Selkirk Elementary School is located within the traditional territory of the people of Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. Selkirk Elementary School is a dual track English/French elementary school, Grades K - 7 with a student population of approximately 380. Key to Selkirk Elementary School’s philosophy is the incorporation of social emotional learning, developmentally responsive practice, and structured literacy and numeracy programming

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent, with a specialization in elementary education;
  • A minimum of three year of recent teaching experience in a primary Grade 1 classroom;
  • Experience teaching a structured literacy program;
  • Experience implementing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in a primary classroom;
  • Experience in the design and implementation of differentiated programming for diverse needs in a primary classroom (specific to numeracy and literacy);
  • Experience with successful implementation of strategies and goals from education plans, in collaboration with team members;
  • Experience with or desire to acquire knowledge about NME/ developmentally responsive way of teaching;
  • Experience in strong classroom management by setting clear routines and fostering a positive, structured learning environment;
  • Experience in place-based learning is an asset;

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:

  • Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:
