The Infrastructure Specialist supports the engineering and governance of physical network infrastructure including cabinets, racks, power systems, cooling, shelters, and lab environments. The role contributes to hardware integration, documentation, validation, and issue resolution to ensure infrastructure is consistent, reliable, and ready for deployment and ongoing operations. This position serves as a core contributor within the infrastructure and equipment engineering function and provides a progression path toward senior infrastructure and equipment engineering roles.


Role Purpose:

The Infrastructure Specialist is a technical role responsible for supporting the design, validation, documentation, and deployment readiness of physical infrastructure across Xplore’s Fixed Wireless network. This role applies established engineering standards while supporting lab, field, and infrastructure activities in collaboration with Equipment Engineering, RAN Engineering, SRE, Performance, and Field Operations teams.


Key responsibilities include:

Infrastructure Engineering Support 

     • Apply established infrastructure, facilities, and power standards consistently. 

• Ensure infrastructure designs are safe, scalable, and deployment-ready. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

• Work effectively with Equipment Engineering, RAN Engineering, Planning, SRE, Performance, and Field Operations teams. 

• Follow defined escalation paths and incorporate feedback from senior specialists. 

Documentation & Quality 

• Maintain accurate engineering documentation, records, and Bills of Materials (BOMs). 

• Support repeatable, standardized infrastructure implementations.


Key responsibilities include:

Infrastructure Engineering Support 

• Support engineering of cabinets, racks, shelters, power systems, and cooling solutions. 

• Validate infrastructure designs against established standards and constraints. 

Lab & Test Environment Support 

• Support lab setup, equipment installation, configuration, and documentation. 

• Assist with troubleshooting and validation activities. 

Power & Facilities Support 

• Support documentation and analysis of power, grounding, and backup systems. 

• Assist in identifying infrastructure risks and dependencies. 

Documentation & Records Management 

• Maintain accurate BOMs, drawings, and engineering records. 

• Ensure documentation reflects approved designs and deployed configurations. 

Cross-Functional Delivery Support 

• Collaborate with Planning, RAN Engineering, SRE, and Field teams to support deployment readiness. 

• Escalate infrastructure issues appropriately and support resolution. 

 

The ideal candidate will possess:

Education & Professional Background

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Telecommunications, Electronics, or related discipline, or equivalent experience. 

• 2–6+ years of experience in network infrastructure, equipment engineering, or a related technical field. 

Technical Knowledge 

• Working knowledge of cabinets, racks, power systems, and cooling. 

• Experience supporting lab or test environments is an asset. 

• Familiarity with engineering documentation and technical drawings. 

Professional Competencies 

• Strong attention to detail and engineering quality. 

• Clear written and verbal communication skills. 

• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional technical teams.
