The Equipment Engineering Specialist at Xplore Inc. is responsible for the engineering, validation, and lifecycle support of network equipment used in the Fixed Wireless access and backhaul network. This role focuses on hardware integration, equipment standards, lab validation, vendor licensing support, and field readiness, ensuring that equipment is deployed consistently, cost-effectively, and in alignment with engineering and operational standards. The Specialist works closely with Planning, RAN Engineering, Microwave Engineering, Infrastructure, Operations, and Vendor Management teams to ensure equipment and licensing solutions are technically sound, scalable, and operationally supportable.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Engineer and support Fixed Wireless network equipment including radios, antennas, cabinets, racks, and associated hardware. 
  • Apply and maintain Xplore’s equipment standards, reference designs, and approved hardware configurations. 
  • Ensure consistency of equipment deployment across regions, vendors, and technologies.
  • Validate new hardware introductions (NTIs) for space, power, cooling, grounding, and environmental requirements. 
  • Support lab testing and validation activities to ensure equipment meets performance and operational expectations. 
  • Identify integration risks and recommend mitigation strategies prior to field deployment.
  • Support the operational management and engineering use of vendor software and feature license pools for Xplore’s Fixed Wireless network. 
  • Validate licensing requirements for new hardware deployments, capacity expansions, and feature enablement. 
  • Ensure equipment designs, reference architectures, and BOMs accurately reflect required license types and quantities. 
  • Assist in tracking license consumption, allocations, and dependencies to prevent deployment delays or compliance risks. 
  • Work with Planning, RAN Engineering, and Vendor Management teams to align license usage with network growth forecasts. 
  • Support audits, reconciliations, and cleanup activities related to unused, stranded, or misallocated licenses. 
  • Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for standard and non-standard deployments, including license components.  
  • Produce and update equipment documentation, integration guides, and installation references. 
  • Ensure documentation aligns with Xplore’s engineering governance, vendor requirements, and field deployment needs.
  • Support lab environments used for equipment testing, troubleshooting, licensing validation, and performance verification. 
  • Ensure lab configurations accurately reflect production standards, including license states and feature enablement. 
  • Assist with reproducing field issues in the lab and validating corrective actions. 
  • Work closely with Planning, RAN, Microwave, Infrastructure, Operations, and Vendor teams to support network builds and upgrades. 
  • Provide engineering support during turn-up, troubleshooting, and in-service issues. 
  • Act as a technical escalation point for equipment- and license-related challenges within defined scope. 
  • Design and validate equipment and licensing solutions with 24×7 operational readiness in mind.
  • Participate in incident investigations and root-cause analysis related to equipment, features, or licensing constraints. 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, simplification, and deployment efficiency.


Required Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of Fixed Wireless access network equipment and deployment practices. 
  • Experience with vendor licensing models (feature-based, capacity-based, or pooled licenses). 
  • Familiarity with lab testing, hardware validation, and field deployment processes. 
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, equipment specifications, and licensing requirements. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality and compliance. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional technical and commercial teams. 
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.
