Anokiiwin Onjii Giinininjiinan | Waskaihan Takahi
The Work of our Hands | Building Something Good
After School Program Coordinator: Children of the Earth High School
Hours: 1:30-5:30, Monday to Thursday, ASAP to June 12, 2026
Rate of Pay: $30/hour
The goal of the Anokiiwin Onjii Giinininjiinan | Waskaihan Takahi program at Children of the Earth High School is to provide after-school opportunities that will be highly engaging to students: providing mentorship and role models, appealing to interests that they already have, nurturing new and developing skills, and creating curiosities through exposure to new activities. Through lengthening the school day, young people are involved in highly engaging extra-curricular activity to nurture individual skill development, enhance social emotional development, increase social capital, and increase the number of significant relationships between peers and between young people and caring adults.
This after school program provides young people with access to rich programming that will help them to develop curiosity, find their passion, and develop skills that they can take with them into their post-secondary and career aspirations. Because Children of the Earth students engage in rich Indigenous cultural programming during the day and because there are a variety of Indigenous cultural programming opportunities already available in the community, the programming offered is not specifically culturally focused, but may include cultural foci. Some examples of programming that could be offered are coding, pottery, dance, drop-in sports, yoga, e-sports, cooking, baking, wire sculpture, etc. Students will help to guide programming opportunities as the program gets underway.
The Anokiiwin Onjii Giinininjiinan | Waskaihan Takahi program runs after school until 5:30 Monday to Thursday. Programming segments run Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday for 6 or 12 week blocks.
