JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Manager (Development Department or Mental Health and Addiction Services), the advisor is responsible for designing, implementing and facilitating a training program in mental health and addiction services. The objective of the program is to provide a range of continuing education that is aligned with best practices, recent literature, Accreditation Canada and the Network’s objectives. The development and delivery of education and training services have resulted from collaboration between the Addiction and Mental Health Services Branch of the Department of Health and the regional health authorities. The advisor is also responsible for analyzing and identifying training needs and for providing support and advice to lead trainers and direct support to employees as needed. This position is crucial to the advancement of a safety culture and the optimization of competencies within the organization.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a health discipline from a recognized university; any other combination of relevant training and experience deemed equivalent;
- Minimum of five years’ clinical experience in a combination of at least two of the three following fields in a hospital or outpatient setting: addiction services; mental health; clinical experience working with children and youth presenting behavioural or mental health issues;
- Varied experience in an adult education setting;
- Demonstrated leadership skills, such as peer mentoring, formal preceptorship of interns, acting as a champion or project leader, etc.;
- Keen interest in furthering own knowledge;
- Proven experience, competencies and ease delivering training or facilitating groups;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Physical ability to perform assigned work;
- Good work history (performance and attendance);
- Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network’s management philosophy and organizational values;
- Adherence to Vitalité Health Network’s confidentiality rules.
