JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Community Mental Health Adult Program Manager, the incumbent will coordinate mental health and addiction crisis intervention services, to promote appropriate community integration in order to optimize services. The social worker will be required to provide a full range of services to this same clientele, perform the clinical duties of a social worker and will also need to ensure that clients and their natural support networks are involved in developing intervention plans. The incumbent will provide clinical leadership, supervision and coordination for the clinical services offered by the mobile crisis team, be responsible for strengthening and coordinating mental health and addiction crisis intervention services as part of a continuum of care and be responsible for providing training sessions to educate our partners on how to intervene more effectively with people experiencing a mental health crisis in the community. The incumbent works closely with the program manager to ensure that this department runs smoothly. The position’s duties also include tasks such as assessment, planning, development, treatment, building helping relationships, crisis intervention, promotion, prevention and close collaboration in developing and maintaining relationships with various community partners. 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Registration with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers;
  • At least three years' clinical experience in the field of mental health and/or addiction services;
  • ASIST training or completion of this training as soon as possible after hire;
  • Crisis intervention training or completion of this training as soon as possible after hiring;
  • Good knowledge of computer tools;
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Good clinical judgment and decision-making skills;
  • Good organizational skills and ability to set priorities;
  • Ability to develop effective partnerships with community networks;
  • Sound clinical judgment and good analytical reasoning;
  • Valid driver’s licence;
  • Ability to travel within the zone served; 
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member;
  • Physical ability to perform assigned duties;
  • Good previous work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, to the Network management philosophy and organizational values;
  • Compliance with the rules of confidentiality established by the Vitalité Health Network.
