JOB SUMMARY:

The successful candidate is responsible for managing the department as well as for planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating activities based on the clientele. The incumbent manages the nursing staff, as well as material and financial resources. The incumbent ensures care quality and patient safety by ensuring compliance with established practice standards and care standards. The incumbent maintains communication between staff, clients, the multidisciplinary team and the community. The incumbent also facilitates change, decision making and the autonomy of staff and clients. The successful candidate is responsible for ensuring staff training and maintenance of competencies. The incumbent also creates a climate conducive to research and the advancement of health care. Finally, the incumbent collaborates with the program director in their administrative duties and performs any other related duties as per the needs of the department.

 REQUIREMENTS:

  • Registration with the Nurses Association of New Brunswick;
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing;
  • Minimum of five years’ relevant clinical experience in the past eight years;
  • Two years’ experience in health care management in a hospital setting considered an asset;
  • Certificate in health services management or the equivalent or completion of this certification within set time frame;
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate;
  • Successful completion of nursing certification programs specific to the unit within set time frame;
  • Proven skills as a leader and as a change agent;
  • Ability to remain calm during sometimes tense situations;
  • Ability to manage time and assigned workload effectively;
  • Ability to communicate with employees, clients and visitors with tact and courtesy;
  • Good judgment along with problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills;
  • Sense of responsibility;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethical principles, the Network’s management philosophy, and organizational values;
  • Compliance with the rules of confidentiality set by Vitalité Health Network.
