JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Community Programs, Palliative Approach and Integrated End-of-Life Care, the Manager of the Palliative Approach and Integrated End-of-Life Care will oversee the development, planning and continuous improvement of all activities related to the palliative approach within the Network. Will be responsible for managing various programs as well as human, financial and material resources. Will ensure that tools are in place to support the employees that they supervise. Will have significant project management duties related to palliative care, will lead quality improvement initiatives, and will implement palliative care standards based on best practices and evidence.

Main activities: Will work to develop the palliative approach and integrated end-of-life care and act as a consultant for the entire Network. Will be assigned various mandates in response to operational needs, such as responsibility for developing and implementing services/processes based on palliative approach best practices. Will see to standardizing and updating practices and processes and be responsible for the continuous improvement of quality and patient safety within the department. Will participate in developing and maintaining a performance management process and accountability structure. Will continuously assess training needs and how to meet them. In addition, will participate on various national, provincial, regional or local committees.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in a health-related discipline;
Master's degree in health care considered an asset;
Training in health management or organizational leadership considered an asset;
Minimum of five years’ experience in a health care management position;
8 to 10 years’ experience in the health field;
Proven knowledge and experience in primary health care;
Knowledge and experience in primary care and hospital settings considered an asset;
Experience supervising/managing staff and strong coaching skills;
Knowledge and experience in program development and implementation;
Member of a professional association;
Excellent leadership, high level of initiative, and sound judgment;
Strategic-thinking skills and innovative, collaborative and visionary management style;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills;
Strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities among multiple tasks;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
Ease forging internal and external partnerships thanks to their knowledge of the field and ability to bring people together;
Ease functioning in a changing environment and strong aptitude for implementing change management strategies;
Extensive experience managing human, material and financial resources and information in general;
Recognized ability to achieve results, whether directly or through teamwork;
Ability to use the computer tools commonly used within the health network;
Physical ability to perform assigned work;
Good work history (performance and attendance);
Regional role, willingness to travel within the Network’s territory and provincially;
Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network’s management philosophy and organizational values;
Adherence to Vitalité Health Network’s confidentiality rules.
