Medical Laboratory Technologist 4 (LT04)

JOB SUMMARY:

This role involves clinical and technical monitoring, carried out under the general supervision of the Manager or Regional Director of Laboratory Services. Responsibilities include: managing staff and overseeing the clinical and technical activities of the New Brunswick Public Health Laboratory (NBPHL); participating in local, regional and provincial interest groups; contributing to the administrative tasks of the NBPHL; overseeing the sector’s quality control and improvement programs, in collaboration with the quality and biosafety officer; and identifying equipment needs. The incumbent also performs the duties of a Level 3 Medical Laboratory Technologist (LT03) and any other related duties as required by the NBPHL.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Diploma in medical laboratory technology from a recognized school;
• Valid registration with the New Brunswick Society of Medical Laboratory Technologists (NBSMLT);
• Minimum of six years' experience as a medical laboratory technologist in serology and polymerase chain reaction (PCR);
• Knowledge of software programs currently used within the Network;
• Interest in continuing professional development to meet the job requirements;
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills;
• Good interpersonal skills;
• Knowledge of and compliance with laboratory safety principles;
• Analytical mindset;
• Initiative and sound judgment;
• Steadfast commitment to the quality and safety of the services provided to patients;

• Physical ability to perform assigned duties;
