Medical Laboratory Technologist 3 (LT03) - Serology

JOB SUMMARY:

The work of the medical laboratory technologist 3 (serology) involves assisting with the planning, organizing, implementing and monitoring of the technical and clinical operations of the serology sector of the Public Health Laboratory, in collaboration with the manager and medical director. The Public Health Laboratory offers services province-wide.

The technologist may also be responsible for providing supervision and perform the work of an LT-02.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of a recognized medical laboratory technology school, or hold a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS);
  • Member in good standing of the New Brunswick Society of Medical Laboratory Technologists and certified member of the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science;
  • At least three years’ clinical serology experience;
  • Experience providing supervision an asset;
  • Analytical thinking skills;
  • Initiative and sound judgment;
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills;
  • Planning and organizational skills;
  • Ability to develop and maintain policies and procedures;
  • Knowledge of and respect for laboratory safety principles;
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills;
  • Positive leadership;
  • Teaching, interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Keen interest in acquiring knowledge to improve and maintain the quality of services;
  • Good knowledge of computers and proficiency with software such as Word, Excel and Meditech;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Physical ability to perform assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network’s management philosophy and organizational values;
  • Adherence to Vitalité Health Network’s confidentiality rules.
