JOB SUMMARY :

Reporting to the Vice President of Medical Affairs, the Medical Director is responsible for the local management of Medical Services and also plays a regional role in managing the clinical program(s) and sectors under his or her responsibility. In this capacity, the Medical Director contributes effectively to the planning and goal-setting for various clinical programs, as well as to the management of medical, material, and financial resources within their assigned sectors. They provide medical expertise to support the development and harmonization of regional practices within Medical Affairs. The candidate is also expected to collaborate with various internal and external partners, including the Horizon Health Network, the Department of Health, the Regional Health Authorities, the New Brunswick Medical Society, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick, and others.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school leading to a medical license;
  • Member in good standing of a medical association;
  • Minimum of 3 years of team management experience;
  • Training in administration or management is considered an asset;
  • Any other combination of education and experience deemed equivalent may be considered.
  • Excellent knowledge of the province’s healthcare system;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, as well as the stress associated with setting priorities and meeting deadlines;
  • Ability to analyze issues and data that have immediate or long-term implications for the service(s) and the Network as a whole;
  • Ability to efficiently manage medical, material, and financial resources in accordance with the Network’s strategic and operational needs;
  • Ability to set priorities and achieve objectives;
  • Very strong skills in building and maintaining interpersonal relationships based on respect, diplomacy, and kindness;
  • Ability to persuade, appreciate diversity, and negotiate in order to rally teams around a shared vision or consensus;
  • Excellent command of French and English, both spoken and written;
  • Demonstrated personal qualities: autonomy, a positive attitude, flexibility, and loyalty;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Physical ability to perform assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network’s management philosophy and organizational values;
  • Adherence to Vitalité Health Network’s confidentiality rules.
