Medical Director - Emergency Services

JOB SUMMARY :

Reporting to the Senior Director of Critical Care, the incumbent will assist in managing all activities related to the Emergency Services sector. As part of their responsibilities, they will participate in the planning and organization of care and services provided, in the management of human resources, finances, and equipment, in staff training, and in quality and risk management, and will support training and research. The incumbent may be assigned various responsibilities based on operational needs, such as the responsibility to develop, implement, and maintain a standardized process, and may be called upon to manage staff working in different areas. As part of their duties, they will be required to travel within the network’s territory to support colleagues in different areas.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor’s degree in applied science or a health-related field;
  • A graduate certificate in health services management or higher (diploma or master’s degree) is a distinct advantage;
  • At least 5 years of experience in a healthcare management position;
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in the healthcare field;
  • Experience supervising/managing staff and strong coaching skills;
  • Proven knowledge and experience in acute care (emergency department) and experience in process development and implementation;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
  • Proven ability to demonstrate transformational leadership;
  • Ability to set priorities and achieve objectives;
  • Analytical, writing, and synthesis skills;
  • Good knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Office software;
  • Willingness to travel within the Network’s territory;
  • Ability to mobilize, engage, and act as a change agent;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and French is required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethical principles, the Network’s management philosophy, and organizational values;
