Responsibilities and goals associated with the position
Reporting to the Chief of Operations – Buildings and Sports Facilities Maintenance, the incumbent of the Supervisor – Building Maintenance position supervises the activities of her or his unit. The work consists in planning, directing, controlling and supervising the janitorial maintenance in the different Pointe-Claire City buildings and installations.
The jobholder’s main responsibilities are as follows:- Plan and ensure housekeeping work for all City buildings;
- Manage the human, financial, material and information resources of his or her administrative unit;
- Determine the directions and priorities of his or her administrative unit;
- Assign and supervise the various daily tasks of his or her employees;
- Act as a point of contact for employees of other teams in the department in the absence of their appointed supervisor;
- Participate in preparing, analyzing and awarding contracts following a call for tenders, where applicable;
- Manage contracts related to his or her field.
- Evaluate the performance and professional development needs of her or his staff;
- Enforce occupational health and safety standards and control measures developed to monitor these files
- Contribute to creating a safe and pleasant environment for users accessing City buildings.
- Produce an annual budget and put in place mechanisms to monitor it throughout the year. Be responsible for closing the budget at the end of the financial year.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of the work performed, purchases and labour costs.
- Maintain inventories of equipment and tools and implement inventory control measures.
- Provide any required expertise for activities within his or her scope of activities.
- Prepare the management reports needed to inform his or her superior of the progress of the work.
- Perform any other related tasks.
Working hours
38 hours a week:
Monday to Thursday 5:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
