Department mission

The mission of the Culture, Sports, Leisure and Community Development Department is to improve quality of life by promoting accessibility, participation, and integration of all citizens through the provision of excellent community, cultural, sports and recreational facilities, activities, and services.

Considered one of the best diving clubs in Canada, the Pointe-Claire Dive Club has stood out for over 40 years based on the performance of its members. The club has trained several world-record holders and Olympic medalists.

Responsibilities and goals associated with the position

Reporting to the Assistant Head Coach, the incumbent will be responsible for teaching diving lessons to our clients, ensuring their development and continuing the tradition of excellence and enthusiasm that has characterized our Diving Club for decades.

The jobholder’s main responsibilities are as follows:

  • Teach proper diving techniques to our clients;
  • Set up teaching plans for the session;
  • Be responsible for the safety and security of our clients;
  • Complete student assessments according to the Olympic Way program;
  • Work in collaboration with the Assistant Head Coach;
  • Attend meetings and trainings;
  • Communicate with parents when necessary;
  • Perform all other related tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma in progress;
  • Level 1 NCCP (or to be completed within the first year of hiring date);
  • 1 year experience as coach in a competitive summer diving team or equivalent experience;
  • National Lifeguard Certificate (or to be obtained in the first six months of hiring date);
  • Interpersonal communication skills;
  • Ability to work in a team setting;
  • Organizational skills;
  • Bilingual (English and French).

Working Hours

Monday, Wednesday and Friday 4.p.m to 6 p.m.
