Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Coordinator to join the Seniors Supported Housing team in North Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Coordinator with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Develop, implement, coordinate and evaluate goals, objectives and policies of the Seniors Supported Housing program for designated buildings.
  • Support and enhance the health, independence and quality of life of seniors in existing seniors housing, improves linkages to community, health, and social services, develop and deliver opportunities for social interaction and recreational activities and fosters partnerships with other community and health resources.
  • Work collaboratively with elderly tenants, building managers and health and social service agencies to plan and implement activities and services for the benefit of tenants.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the Social Sciences or other related field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience working with seniors or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License. Local area travel may require the use of a personal vehicle where mileage reimbursement is provided.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Broad knowledge of health care and social service systems, as well as community resources, service mandates, and referral guidelines.
  • Knowledge of legislation and government policies and procedures that relate to tenants and their support network.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and sensitively with individuals from diverse cultural, economic and social backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with tenants, their families, colleagues, other health care staff, and community service providers both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Demonstrated listening and information seeking skills that promotes communication and consultation and leads to a co-operative approach to problem solving.
  • Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and to set priorities, organize work and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with conflict situations and to adjust to new or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Basic computer literacy to operate a computerized client care information system and word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, Internet and e-mail software.
  • Broad understanding/knowledge of volunteer management/coordinating would be an asset.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
