Join the team at Lions Gate Hospital (LGH) as a Gastroenterologist. This role offers the opportunity to manage a diverse range of inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology consultations, including emergency cases and a full scope of GI procedures. We are looking for a gastroenterologist with subspecialty training and certification in Neurogastroenterology and GI motility. Experience with other advanced procedures would be a valuable asset.

Lions Gate Hospital (LGH) provides a comprehensive spectrum of acute care services to a broad region encompassing the North Shore, Sea-to-Sky Country, the Sunshine Coast, and Powell River, serving a population exceeding 270,000 residents. Our services include general medicine, emergency and critical care, surgery, orthopaedics, maternity, pediatrics, psychiatry, chemotherapy, cardiac care, diagnostics, nuclear medicine, palliative care, rehabilitation, and neurosurgery.

As a recognized trauma centre, LGH is equipped with 269 acute beds, eight operating rooms, and a wide array of diagnostic services and equipment. Our recently opened Paul Myers Tower enhances our capacity with 108 private patient rooms, eight new operating rooms, and 39 pre- and post-operative spaces, alongside a modern medical reprocessing department and dedicated outpatient clinics. This new tower also incorporates green and cultural spaces to further support patient recovery and well-being.

Start date: July 1 2026

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with a 1 in 6 weekend on-call rotation.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Desired
  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) - Mandatory
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) - Mandatory
  • Endoscopy Skills - Mandatory
  • Certified Gastrointestinal Motility Specialist - Mandatory

Terms of the position are negotiable with the Department of Medicine and Division of Gastroenterology.
