General Purpose

Reporting to the Manager, Transportation Services, the Senior Vehicle Mechanic performs skilled routine maintenance and repair work on all gasoline and diesel-powered licensed vehicles, electric vehicles, tractors and off-road equipment and small internal combustion engines.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintenance, inspection and repair of all types of light- and heavy-duty gasoline and diesel-powered automobiles and trucks as well as gasoline-powered landscape equipment, such as lawn mowers
  • Performs annual safety inspections on all vehicles according to MTO Guidelines
  • Operates within established security and safety regulations as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Follows established University and department policies and procedures
  • Maintaining accurate and legible records
  • Participate in the rotating emergency call-in schedule
  • Performing other tasks related to Transportation Services as assigned

Requirements

  • Grade 12 plus an additional one-year program or equivalent to acquire an Automobile Technician license, and a valid Automotive/Truck (310S) license
  • Minimum of three years’ related experience
  • Valid DZ driver’s license
  • Good driving record
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work as part of a team
