UHN’s Centre for Mental Health
Imagine a world where all of your health needs - both physical and mental - are assessed, diagnosed and treated as a whole. Where you partner with your healthcare provider for the right help, at the right time, free from stigma and discrimination. A world where whole person health is the standard of care. At UHN’s Centre for Mental Health, we serve some of the country’s most complex patients who suffer from comorbid mental and physical illness and are working to fully integrate physical and mental health in everything we do, for every patient, caregiver, provider and service. This goal is being advanced by a team of 100+ psychiatrists, 300+ interdisciplinary staff as well as 70+ learners and researchers spread across six clinical divisions at CMH: Acute Care & General Psychiatry, Depression, Eating Disorders, Medical Psychiatry, Outpatient Mental Health & Addictions Services, and Seniors’ Mental Health.
To further advance this vision, a true partnership has been struck between UHN, Canada’s leading academic health sciences centre and Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Canada’s leading mental health hospital, to offer a world first: outstanding comprehensive mental and physical health care for all our patients, and drive world-class research and education in brain health and in the connection between brain and body health. Building synergy amongst Canada’s top research hospital and third-ranked hospital in the world (UHN) with Canada’s top mental health research hospital (CAMH) in a publicly-funded healthcare system creates unique conditions to truly deliver innovative, whole body care and inspire scientists to delve into new research questions based on emerging knowledge of the brain-body connection.
