BUILDING MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is looking for a Building Maintenance Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of commercial and industrial buildings. You will help ensure facilities are safe, functional, and welcoming for occupants.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Ensure the proper operation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and life safety systems

  • Respond to tenant service requests through the PRISME platform

  • Perform general maintenance tasks as required

  • Monitor contracted work and report any issues or anomalies

  • Ensure compliance with building standards and regulations

  • Inspect the building from all operational perspectives (interior and exterior) and ensure corrective actions and maintenance are properly carried out

  • Perform basic interior repair work, including door hardware, patching, painting, ceiling/floor tiles, and other minor repairs

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in maintenance and service areas

  • Regularly inspect safety systems (alarm systems, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, sprinklers)

  • Responsible for updating Risk Check and validating information with the operations team

  • Participate in operational and Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) meetings

  • Conduct OHS inspections and complete required corrective actions

  • Manage the key system and access control system

  • Work closely with management and operations teams

  • Perform any other related tasks associated with the position



WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • A DEP (vocational diploma) in general building maintenance is considered an asset

  • Experience in building maintenance

  • Strong initiative and resourcefulness, with the ability to multitask and solve problems independently

  • Mechanical skills are considered an asset

  • Ability to work as part of a team, strong interpersonal skills, and a customer service mindset

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software

  • Bilingual in French and English*, both spoken and written

  • Majority of the time spent standing or walking; frequent movement required

  • Ability to frequently lift and carry equipment and tools

  • Availability for evening and weekend on-call rotation for emergency calls

  • Access to a vehicle is considered an asset for easy travel between portfolio properties (mileage reimbursed)
