Pay Range: $100,000 - $130,000

Position Purpose
This position is responsible for the execution of all transportation activity within the assigned region, while hitting service, productivity, and budgetary targets. Accountable for the daily operation of the dedicated fleet (owned or external), and/or third party carriers servicing stores and DCs within the assigned region. Regional activity includes transportation to and from multiple facilities (vendors, SFC, BDC, DFC, cross-dock, and offsite operations) in multiple cities. Accountable for both the SFC yard operation and dedicated fleet equipment. Accountable for fleet and cross-dock operation in Quebec. Improves processes, deploys resources, and leads the team to identify, resolve and communicate transportation operational issues to leadership and stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
• Lead, manage, coach and develop operational teams to provide consistent service and productivity across markets and districts. Direct reports include two Assistant transportation managers that manage and supervise shifts of dispatchers, transport analysts, and yard associates
• Directly accountable for $55 million in annual operating cost, representing $1.7 billion in COGS transported annually
• Plan and allocate resources to meet service, productivity and environmental targets
• Establish operational contingency planning and call-in/escalation routines and SOP’s
• Set, track and achieve operational goals for safety, asset protection, and on-time carrier performance
• Participate/lead carrier contract negotiations through the RFP process
• Measure and manage provisioned capacity for dedicated fleets and carriers
• Work effectively and cross-functionally to action any issue that can have a negative impact on our customers. Support retail performance through collaboration with IPR, Planning, Store Operations, DMs, DOMs, DC managers, and Merchandising teams, and with external partners.
• Measure and manage metrics for on-time pickups and deliveries, and shunting operations.
• Accountable for the accuracy and audit of fleet and carrier invoicing and expenses
• Executes policy and process regarding productivity, safety and service level
• Accountable for the reporting accuracy of shipment volume, COGS, and freight expense that is published in our weekly dashboards
Experience / Knowledge Required:
• Internal Candidates: Must fulfill minimum time-in-position
• Previous experience in a transportation environment in positions such as transportation operations manager, dispatch manager, lead dispatcher, transport planning manager, assistant transportation operations manager or dispatcher
• Previous work in retail environment in logistics, store fulfillment or supply chain associate
• Previous experience as distribution centre manager
• Strong operational process, prioritization skills and decisiveness
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborate skills
• Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills
• Good PC skills including Microsoft outlook, excel and word
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent time management skills
• Knowledge of Canadian transportation regulations and licensing (Federal and Provincial)
• Education Required: High School Graduate (post secondary preferred)
• CITT preferred
• 7 years of relevant work experience
