The Specialist, P&C Broker Acquisitions is a senior individual contributor responsible for developing and executing strategies to identify, engage, and onboard new broker partners to enhance Co-operators’ distribution network. This role is a key enabler the successful conversion of a broker's book of business to Co-operators, leveraging our products, processes and systems. This role focuses on building strong relationships with potential brokers, assessing their fit within the organization, and executing the onboarding of brokers identified to enhance Co-operators’ distribution network – ultimately owning the end to end acquisition and integration activities.


How you will create impact:
  • Identification and targeting of brokers to select optimal firms to acquire in alignment with Co-operators’ footprint strategy
    • Define selection criteria (size, portfolio, location, clientele, culture)
    • Assess strategic compatibility with existing mix of acquisitions
  • Broker assessment and due diligence to assess financial and operational viability
  • Negotiation and offer structuring to define acquisition terms in collaboration with Corporate Development
  • Post-acquisition integration to ensure transition seamlessness
  • Develop and execute plans to acquire brokers for Property & Casualty (P&C) product lines.
  • Enable onboarding of incremental brokers into Co-operators’ distribution network.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing brokers, ensuring ongoing communication and support throughout the partnership lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Marketing, Sales, and Manufacturing, to ensure alignment of broker acquisition strategies with broader Co-operators strategic initiatives.

  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills to foster partnerships with brokers.
  • Thorough knowledge of the brokerage industry and market
  • Familiarity with compliance and regulatory requirements related to broker partnerships.
  • Experience in managing partnerships and fostering a collaborative culture
  • Proficiency in both English and French is essential to the main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority anglophone and francophone clients, groups, and teams. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.
