Reporting to the Purchasing Director, the Buyer/Procurement Specialist plays a key role in the company’s operational performance. He or she is responsible for selecting suppliers, negotiating the best purchasing terms, and ensuring efficient procurement, while adhering to established quality standards, deadlines, and budgets.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze the needs of various departments and plan procurement to prevent stockouts
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and timeline criteria
- Negotiate prices, contract terms, and payment terms
- Prepare, issue, and track purchase orders
- Verify the compliance of received goods and ensure rigorous follow-up
- Monitor inventory levels and optimize storage strategies
- Manage problematic situations (delays, non-conformities, supplier disputes)
- Maintain strong and lasting relationships with supplier partners
- Participate in administrative tasks related to purchasing
- Collaborate on logistics and continuous improvement activities
Requirements
- Education in operations management, procurement, logistics, or a related field (an asset)
- Relevant experience in purchasing or procurement (industrial or technology sector, an asset)
- Good understanding of procurement processes
- Experience in a technology environment (an asset)
- Proficiency with IT tools and management systems
