Position Overview

Sunnybrook’s acute care inpatient pharmacy site is seeking a Temporary Full-Time Manager. This temporary posting reflects in depth evaluation over the next two years as the department prepares for significant operational changes, including the introduction of new automation processes, renovations to the  clean rooms, and the implementation of a new Hospital Information System (HIS). This approach will allow us to align departmental leadership with these strategic initiatives and ensure we are optimally positioned for future growth and improvement.

 

Summary of Duties

The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for providing administrative and operational leadership to the inpatient acute care pharmacy satellite. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, effective project management skills, and the ability to deliver consistent results within a dynamic environment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring, and managing the budget
  • Providing human resources, operational and staffing leadership for the pharmacy
  • Representing the pharmacy through participation in various internal and external committees
  • Supporting clinical services and fostering high-quality patient-centered pharmacy care
  • Supporting staff in maintaining best-practice models, including operational efficiency, pharmaceutical care, medication reconciliation, and patient education
  • Ensuring compliance with the standards of the Ontario College of Pharmacists and Accreditation Canada

 

Qualifications / Skills

  • Current licensure with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • Minimum 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience in a relevant practice area
  • Demonstrated experience in staff management and team leadership
  • Strong project management and change management capabilities
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
  • Demonstrated success in building and supporting strong, collaborative teams
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure environment
  • Self-directed, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities efficiently
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
