Job Description:

The Manager, Strategic Initiatives will be part of the Project and Portfolio Management team within Sun Life Canada. The team is responsible for governance and reporting on the Sun Life Canada initiative portfolio. We are a collaborative, diverse and high-performing group tasked with enabling and driving value to support Sun Life Canada in achieving financial and business objectives, while being a key business partner on specific initiatives and projects.

We are looking for a creative and innovative Manager, Strategic Initiatives to join our team. This key role involves overseeing metrics and supporting various strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will design and build the infrastructure needed to operationalize value realization across SL Canada. The incumbent will be comfortable with a flexible work environment, adapting to changing priorities and working on multiple projects at different stages, with different stakeholders.

What will you do?

  • Design and build infrastructure to operationalize value realization, focusing on metrics stewardship and subsequent tracking.

  • Develop methodologies to align Key Initiatives with enterprise level OKRs/KPIs.

  • Use data science skills to analyze complex data sets and address issues around attribution.

  • Provide statistical expertise to support decision-making processes.

  • Show creativity and resilience in the face of challenges and ambiguity.

  • Support other project and portfolio management workstreams to drive organizational success.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure strategic goal alignment and execution.

  • Influence and impact stakeholders at all levels within the organization.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a strategic or analytical role.

  • Professional and/or educational background in statistics or a related field.

  • Experience in data science is an advantage.

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Experience building executive-level presentation and content.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple complex priorities.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
