Job Description:

Location: hybrid

Reporting to the Group Underwriting Best Practices Manager of the training team, the Best Practices Consultant is responsible for delivering training to new hires and existing staff on the SunSolutions and National Accounts teams. In addition to training delivery, the Best Practices Consultant is responsible for improving performance through coaching and mentoring activities and completing monthly quality reviews.

What will you do?

  • Deliver new hire training and new skill training for group underwriters
  • Perform training audits
  • Support trainees
  • Create and update training material and documentation in our Wiki
  • Create e-learning modules
  • Support our Quality Review program
  • Support the Group Underwriting Best Practices team by participating in projects and answering inquiries

What do you need to succeed?

  • Minimum 2 years of Group Underwriting experience
  • Familiar with large case underwriting and financial reports
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to train, coach and mentor others
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven analytical, problem solving and research skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong computer skills and Microsoft Office software skills
  • Knowledge of other Group Benefits Departments
  • Knowledge of adult education principles and practices is an asset
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Curious about technology and new innovative solutions using GenAI
  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only as the position reports to a unilingual English-speaking manager outside Quebec.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
