POSITION DESCRIPTION:
VISUAL ART TEACHER (PART-TIME .60 FTE)
We are currently inviting applications for the part-time (.60 FTE) position of Visual Art Teacher Senior School. This position will commence September 1, 2026.
Teaching Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and deliver the Visual Arts program requirements to students in Grades 8 through 12 following the BC Ministry of Education curriculum
- Collaboratively plan within the department to develop and design consistent and well-
- Assess and report on student academic progress and effort, drawing attention to areas of
- Supervise and manage student deportment, including behaviour and adherence to uniform expectations
- Monitors students academic, co-curricular, and personal growth as an advisor
- Attend and participate in core school functions and special events
- Fully participate in the co-curricular programme of the school
- Additional duties and responsibilities as outlined in the Faculty Handbook
- A Bachelor of Education degree, with undergraduate studies in Visual Arts
- Hold a valid BC teaching certificate
- Co-curricular coaching experience is valued
- Must be highly collegial and a collaborative team partner
- Strong organizational skills with excellent written and verbal communication
- A high level of initiative, energy and motivation
- The capacity to function effectively within a busy, high-functioning department and school
- A proactive and innovative approach to solving problems
- Experience teaching at the Senior School level in an independent school environment is an asset
- Yearbook experience is an asset
- Effective interpersonal skills to establish connections with students and parents in the role of advisor
- Experience teaching in a technology rich environment is an asset
- Experience working with adolescents in a school environment is an asset
- Proven work ethic and a high level of integrity
- Effective interpersonal skills to establish connections, build trust and rapport with students and parents

Southridge is excited to offer a competitive salary, with a pay scale the exceeds the Vancouver School District by 4%. The salary range for this position is from $42,727. to $69,707. Salary placement is based on years of teaching experience and educational accomplishments.
