Position Title: Professional - Translator - Senior

Line of Business: DIGITAL STRATEGY & USER EXPERIENCE - DIGITAL DIRECT BANKING - Mobile and online banking

Target Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 6 Months

Extension/FTE: Yes for extension, conversion - potential

Remote/Hybrid: In office - Wednesday and 3rd Friday of the month (potential to change)

Project: CW will be working on multiple projects all related to mobile and online banking (software based). 80% editing previous material/updating and 20-30% translating.

Job Description:

As a French Translator and Editor, you’re responsible for translating, reviewing, editing and proofreading content fo online banking, our mobile apps, You’ll review and edit English-to-French translations for accuracy, consistency, concision, tone, typography and grammar. You’ll make sure that all translations align with the client's voice and tone, brand and accessibility standards. You’ll contribute to our French processes and documentation.

We’re looking for someone who’s detail-oriented, able to meet tight deadlines and has great interpersonal skills.

How You’ll Succeed

· Proficient in French at a native level: You bring extensive knowledge of the French language that’s backed by a degree in translation or equivalent work experience. You have strong terminology research skills, awareness of French-Canadian nuances and good working knowledge of Trados Studio, OQLF’s standards, Termium, Le GDT, Antidote and terminology databases

· Maintain French alignment: You translate, proofread and edit translations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to editorial standards and to the Office Québécois de la langue Française. You pride yourself in ensuring content from vendors, clients and external partners is accurate and meets organizational standards and best practices.

· Effectively manage translation: You’re highly detail and process-oriented. You manage translation requests in a timely and cost-effective manner, working cooperatively with our partners and vendors.

· Take initiative: You’re comfortable juggling multiple priorities with tight deadlines. You proactively resolve the complexities and ambiguities that arise on projects. You use your excellent communication, consultation and interpersonal skills to champion the French translation discipline and its nuances.

· Recommend process improvements: You regularly review the French translation and editing process, focusing on continuous improvement. You will be asked to recommend and implement ways to make the project process as efficient as possible including CAT tools and Content libraries.

Must haves:

1. Strong English and native French language proficiency. Extensive knowledge of the French language and are aware of French Canadian specificities.

2. 5+ years work experience in marketing, banking, software development, user experience design environment with editing and translating content that follows brand guidelines and meets WCAG accessibility standards. Adhered to OQLF standards and helped maintain a content style guide.

3. Familiar with software development cycle in agile delivery environment.

Education and Certifications: Strongly preferred degree or diploma in Translation (English to French)
