Technical Lead (Capital Markets) for our Fintech client that provides institutional-grade crypto

Contract: 6 Months +

Location: Toronto (3 days/week onsite)

Hours: 37.5

Day-to-Day (D2D) Responsibilities:

• Design and architect scalable, low-latency trading and financial systems (order management, trading apps, payment/money management apps).
• Lead and mentor a team of developers, setting best practices and fostering technical excellence.
• Collaborate with traders, quants, and tech teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Oversee the full software development lifecycle: requirements, design, coding, testing, deployment.
• Ensure seamless integration of new trading solutions with existing platforms.
• Stay current on trading system trends and evaluate new tools/technologies for adoption.
• Ensure all systems meet compliance, security, and risk management standards in financial services.

Must-Haves:

• 7+ years in software development, with at least 4 years in FX, crypto, or capital markets trading environments.
• Proven experience as a Technical Lead/Lead Developer delivering complex, real-time systems.
• Strong experience with front office technologies, order management systems, and trading platforms.
• Expertise in Java, JavaScript, TypeScript.
• Demonstrated ability to design and deliver scalable, high-performance, low-latency trading systems.
• Solid understanding of event-driven design and messaging systems (Kafka, Solace).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Plusses / Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience with high-frequency trading systems.
• Strong background in financial compliance, security standards, and risk management protocols.
• Hands-on coding experience while leading teams (comfortable “rolling up sleeves”).
• Exposure to crypto trading systems or digital asset platforms.
• Advanced degree (Master’s in CS, Engineering, or related).
