Description
Our Valued Public Sector Client is seeking a Senior System Administrator to perform installations, upgrading, and maintenance of software and hardware within a classified environment.
Senior Systems Administrator to support the development of system designs and specifications for applications in a multi-tier classified IT environment. The role focuses on maintaining network integrity and performance while supporting implementation and sustainment activities.
Tasks include:
- Install, monitor, upgrade, and maintain operating systems.
- Install, monitor, upgrade, and maintain hardware and software.
- Expertise in Windows Installer technologies, including MSI, MST, and MSP packaging, with strong proficiency in using command-line switches to enable automated, zero-touch deployments.
- Advanced SCCM/MECM management skills, including application and package creation, detection methods, dependencies/supersedence, and reporting using SQL or built-in compliance tools.
- Strong experience with VMware App Volumes lifecycle management, including creating, updating, rolling back, and assigning AppStacks/Packages, as well as configuring writable volumes for user persistence.
- Proven ability to manage clean provisioning VMs and integrate App Volumes with Horizon components (Connection Servers and Unified Access Gateways) for on-demand application delivery.
- PowerShell expertise for automating application packaging, SCCM operations, and custom uninstall routines, with strong troubleshooting skills across the Windows Registry, WMI, services, and file system permissions.
- Working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and core networking concepts (PXE, DNS, DHCP, boundary groups) to support targeted and reliable software deployments.
- Apply problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Ensure the implementation of timely and reliable system administration procedures, such as backups and recovery.
- Analyze system performance and recommend improvements.
Deliverables:
- Provide a written summary documenting the installation, monitoring, upgrades, and maintenance of operating systems and hardware/software.
- Deliver a presentation on system performance analysis and recommended improvements.
- Submit situation reports on demand to communicate the state of the JSIS network sustainment, tailored in format, detail, and scale to the specific area of responsibility.
Must Haves:
- 10+ years experience as a System Administrator
- SCCM/MECM experience
- VMWare experience
- Experience with PowerShell scripts
- Secret Clearance
- Work on site - Ottawa East
