Duration: 3-4 month contract with possibility of extension.


Hybrid Work Model:

Alternate weekly between:

  • 2 days in office (Tue & Wed)
  • 3 days in office (Tue, Wed & Thu)

The Strategic Planning- Cybersecurity Finance Lead reports into the new CISO division and is responsible for financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for cybersecurity and infrastructure programs. This role partners closely with IT and project delivery teams to ensure accurate financial oversight, transparent reporting, and effective investment planning. The ideal candidate understands the financial dynamics of IT and cyber initiatives, including multi-year programs, project-based funding, vendor contracts, and operational security spend.


Must-Haves

  • 15+ years in finance / FP&A / operational finance
  • Direct experience supporting IT, cybersecurity, or infrastructure budgets
  • Proven ownership of large, complex, multi-year technology budgets
  • Strong hands-on experience with POs, invoicing, accruals, reconciliations
  • Advanced Excel / financial modeling skills
  • Ability to translate technical & cyber initiatives into financial insights
  • Strong stakeholder communication (technical + executive audiences)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting (CPA/CMA/CFA strongly preferred)
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Own budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and reporting for IT & cybersecurity
  • Track OpEx vs CapEx, WIP, burn rates, and project financials
  • Manage vendor spend, contracts, licensing, cloud consumption, and managed services
  • Prepare financial dashboards, KPIs, and executive reports
  • Support business cases and investment planning for cyber & technology initiatives
  • Perform monthly/quarterly reconciliations and support audits
  • Partner daily with CISO org, IT, infrastructure, procurement, and corporate finance
  • Lead and develop a small finance team (analysts, consultants, contractors)
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation
Plusses / Nice-to-Haves
  • Public sector / municipal finance experience
  • Familiarity with government budgeting cycles, procurement bylaws, RFPs
  • Experience supporting cyber programs (SOC, IR, cloud security, IAM, compliance)
  • Power BI or similar dashboarding tools
  • Experience in incident response or remediation funding
