Our client is looking for a Sr. Power BI Developer to support developing Power BI datasets using a virtual data warehouse for a government client.


Overview:

The role supports continuous delivery, enterprise system modernization, and data integrity across complex platforms.


Must Have's:

  • 5+ years experience building Power BI datasets on top of virtual warehouses
  • 5+ years experience developing semantic models, DAX measures, and governed dashboards/reports
  • 2+ years experience working with business areas to drive reporting and analytics adoption
  • 2+ years experience using source control, particularly git, in collaborative software development
  • 1+ year of experience working with CI/CD pipelines
  • Proficiency in Power BI, DAX, SQL Server, and data modeling


Nice to Have's:

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools.
  • Familiarity with replacing systems of record (registries, banking, insurance, taxation, financial or billing systems)
  • Work Conditions Availability to work full-time during standard Alberta business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:154:30)



Responsibilities:

Design and Build Power BI Solutions:

  • Develop robust Power BI datasets, semantic models, DAX measures, and governed dashboards/reports to support business intelligence needs for registry modernization.

Data Integration:

  • Work with SQL Server and other data sources to ensure seamless integration and accurate data representation for analytics and reporting.

Collaboration:

  • Partner with business areas, product owners, and other agile team members to drive adoption of reporting and analytics solutions, ensuring alignment with user and business needs.

Agile Delivery:

  • Participate in agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives), contribute to backlog refinement, and deliver iterative releases of business intelligence solutions.

Source Control and CI/CD:

  • Utilize git for source control and collaborate in a CI/CD pipeline to ensure rapid, consistent deployments and high-quality deliverables.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process and technical improvements, proactively manage risks, and contribute to the continuous enhancement of business intelligence capabilities.
