Work Location: Hybrid - 2 days a week - moving to 4 days a TBC, Toronto ON

Scope of Project: implementation BAU change request ( regulatory \ base rate changes)

Team Size/Culture: 20 ppl

Training Period: 3-4 weeks

Selling Points of Position (CVP): Working within a leading FI organization


Provide support in developing clear, comprehensive system requirements and functional/technical specifications aligned with established standards and frameworks. Work closely with business partners, technology teams, project teams, and stakeholders to elicit, analyze, document, communicate, and manage detailed functional specifications.


Accountabilities

  • Develop efficient solutions by researching and analyzing current‑state system capabilities and recommending technology options in collaboration with key technology partners.
  • Support testing teams by translating requirements and use cases into test conditions and expected results for product, performance, user acceptance, and operational acceptance testing.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess solution options, understand impacts on existing processes and systems, and guide integration activities.
  • Ensure adherence to BSA best practices and maintain quality across project processes and deliverables.
  • Follow established processes and standards, including requirements management, project management disciplines, enterprise delivery practices, and technology architecture, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Continuously build expertise in relevant technologies, applications, analytical tools, and emerging trends to support effective solution design and delivery.
  • Expand knowledge of business domains, products, and services to strengthen solution alignment.
  • Maintain clear, ongoing communication with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform BSA responsibilities effectively on single or multiple concurrent projects.
  • Prioritize and manage workload to deliver high‑quality results within established timelines.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment focused on service, quality, innovation, and teamwork; participate in team and business-unit knowledge transfer.
  • Coach and support new or less experienced colleagues as needed.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve team productivity, effectiveness, and operational efficiency.


Must‑Have Requirements :

  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, ideally in insurance.
  • Hands‑on experience working in Agile environments, with familiarity in Scrum or SAFe.
  • Foundational Insurance Rating experience, including exposure to rating engines or rating model development.
  • Strong understanding of personal lines insurance (auto, residential).
  • Proficiency with Excel, including the ability to validate and troubleshoot actuarial calculation sheets.
  • Experience with XML and APIs or other integration/web service technologies.
  • Ability to support rating algorithm design based on actuarial specifications.
  • Experience reviewing rating‑related documentation and supporting solution validation.
  • Effective collaboration skills, with the ability to participate in knowledge‑transfer and design discussions.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, XML, and core pricing/rating concepts.


Nice‑to‑Have Skills

  • Exposure to commercial insurance products and rating models.
  • Experience working with Guidewire or other policy administration systems.
  • Experience with more advanced or complex rating engines.
  • Familiarity with integration mapping, data transformations, or API testing tools.
  • Prior involvement with Underwriting or Pricing teams.
  • Experience in a SAFe Agile environment beyond basic participation.
  • Ability to create or enhance more complex rating algorithms or actuarial‑driven configurations.
  • Broader knowledge of insurance workflows, including policy issuance, endorsements, and renewals.
