Sr Systems Engineer to provide Virtualization & Infrastructure Support

Our client is looking for Sr Linux Systems Engineer to provide Virtualization & Infrastructure Support.

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and driven Systems Engineer with strong experience in Red Hat Linux, virtualization, and infrastructure support. This role will play a critical part in the patching, monitoring, and automation of our Red Hat environment, while also supporting VMware vSphere and Azure infrastructure. You will work within a highly regulated IT environment, collaborating closely with security, network, and operations teams to ensure system reliability, performance, and compliance.

Must Have's:

• 4+ years of experience supporting Linux and Windows servers (bare metal and virtualized)
• Intermediate scripting skills in Shell, Bash, Python, or PowerShell
• Working knowledge of virtualization and storage infrastructure
• Intermediate experience with VMware vSphere environments
• Working experience with Microsoft Azure, including VM provisioning, Azure Update Manager, and migrations
• Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Linux including patching, automation, and monitoring
• Experience with RedHat Satellite and RedHat Insights
• Familiarity with Docker container management
• Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Cybersecurity, Networking, and Compliance

Responsibilities:

• Conduct patching and identifying automation opportunities around maintaining and monitoring Red Hat Linux operating system
• Supporting Virtualization, storage management, and migration
• Supporting VMware vSphere operations and VM installation procedures
• Develop unique strategies to implement, support, and protect software systems, data centers, and servers
• Work within a highly regulated environment and other IT groups
• Support and diagnosis of technical issues involving servers, storage, DNS, and other systems
• Deploy and support for installation of virtual infrastructure (Azure and VSphere)
• Manage VMware vSphere and Azure environments, which may include network, storage, server infrastructure, application systems, and database systems
• Act as an escalation point on a critical server, virtualization issues for other teams
• Creating and maintaining the virtual server, storage, and data center documentation
• Work closely with the security team to implement security recommendations.
• Participate in the implementation of network and system security measures to protect data, software, and hardware
• Recommend the implementation of new technologies and processes
• Participate in recommending changes to improve systems and such changes
