Role Overview

The SAP AMI Consultant supports the design, configuration, and delivery of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) integrations and business processes within SAP IS-U / SAP S/4HANA for Utilities as part of a large-scale Customer Information System (CIS) transformation program. Working within a System Integrator-led delivery model, this role focuses on enabling reliable, high-volume smart meter data ingestion, validation, exception handling, and end-to-end metering-to-billing process integrity through go-live and stabilization.

The AMI Consultant partners closely with Device Management, Billing, FI-CA, and customer service teams to ensure accurate, compliant, and scalable meter data processing.

Key Responsibilities

• Support AMI/MDM integration with SAP IS-U, including smart meter read and interval data ingestion
• Configure and support meter read processing, validation, estimation (VEE), and exception handling
• Ensure accurate generation and handoff of billing determinants to SAP IS-U Billing
• Support end-to-end metering-to-billing validation, including reconciliation of meter data and billing results
• Collaborate with Device Management, Billing, FI-CA, and customer service teams to resolve data and process exceptions
• Support functional and integration testing (unit, integration, UAT), including defect analysis and resolution
• Assist with cutover planning, go-live readiness, and post-go-live stabilization activities
• Support operational monitoring of AMI data flows and high-volume batch processing

Must Haves

• Hands-on experience supporting SAP IS-U AMI / MDM integrations within Utilities environments
• Strong understanding of smart meter data processing, interval data, and exception handling
• Experience with meter reading, validation, estimation (VEE) and billing determinant processes
• Experience working within System Integrator-led delivery models
• Strong understanding of end-to-end utilities processes, particularly meter-to-cash
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with high-volume data scenarios

Nice to Have

• Experience with large regulated utilities and high-volume AMI environments
• Exposure to SAP S/4HANA Utilities or greenfield CIS implementations
• Experience with common AMI/MDM platforms and field operations integrations
