Senior QA responsible for the execution of the Department’s software testing, creating detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test case

Duration: minimum 6 months; may go to 9 months (to be confirmed)

Onsite/remote work: the work is primarily onsite (3 times a week). This can be discussed with the Manager once the candidate is proven to be effective and productive.

Location: Hydro Building at University and College

Billing: 7.25 hours per day. Shift duration as noted is 8.25 hours including the 1 hour unpaid lunch and 2 X 15 minute paid breaks.


Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong Asset: using knowledge of PHP/Laravel, evaluating programming code to ensure it has validity, compatibility, and that it meets appropriate standards
  • Minimum five (5) years’ of recent and related experience in quality assurance (QA) testing of Windows and/or web-based software applications.
  • Experience in developing automation frameworks is considered a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with different types of testing (e.g. System, Regression, Smoke, Performance, Load, etc.).
  • Experience in writing test plans, test scripts, test cases and test scenarios, testing web applications and reporting defects.
  • Must have solid knowledge of accessibility standards and practices, including the web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG) and AODA.
  • Experience with browser stack and testing across multiple devices (phones, tablets).
  • Working knowledge of test management software (Jira) to document and report bugs.
  • Experience with creating test scripts for web security (e.g. XSS, XSRF, SQL Injection, etc.)
  • Experience with back-end testing frameworks, Quality Management Platforms and testing tools (e.g. Selenium, Quality Centre, QTP, Frisby etc.).
  • Demonstrated web applications development programming experience using .NET or Java, PHP with good understanding of HTTP, HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, REST, and CSS.
  • Experience with scripting language such as Perl, Unix/Linux Shell, Ruby, or Python.
  • Experience with Software Configuration Management concepts and methodologies.
  • Experience with source code management tools (e.g. GIT, Subversion).
  • Advanced skills in .NET or Java, PHP with good understanding of HTTP, HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, REST, and CSS.
