Location Address: Toronto/Hybrid: 2 days (Potential to change to 4 in future)

Anchor days: Wednesdays. Flexible remaining days

Contract Duration: 01/26/2026 to 04/30/2026 (High Chance of Extension)

Schedule Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week

Story Behind the Need

Business group: Credit Risk technology (CRT)

Project: Credit Risk technology Team. Working on internal web application to monitor the risk of counterparties

Contributes to the overall success of the Credit Risk Technology team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Key Accountabilities:

- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

- Analyze highly complex business requirements; generate technical specifications to design or redesign complex software components and applications

- Leverage industry best practices to design, test, implement and support a solution

- Support the bank’s counterparty credit risk technology stack to ensure that calculations and reports are accurate and timely.

- Propose, design, and implement technology solutions to address business needs and support trading and reporting activities.

- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls.

Skills/Experience/Competencies:

1. 10+ years of experience with Full-stack Development

2. 5+ years of recent proven experience as Python Developer

3. 5 + years of experience in python web frameworks like Django and Flask.

4. 5 + years’ experience with Unix/Linux environment and proficient in shell scripting

5. 5 + years’ experience with RDMS including: Oracle, PostgreSQL or Sybase

Nice to have:

1. 2+ years of Experience working with Cloud Services: Azure, GCP, or AWS. GCP is highly preferred

2. 1+ Experience with Messaging Bus technologies such as Kafka, MQ and JMS

3. Previous experience working with Top 5 banks or financial institutes

4. 2+ years of recent experience with React Framework is highly preferred.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in technical fields such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required.

Best VS. Average Candidate:

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Python developer with FinTech experience. Must have recent Hands-on experience in python web frameworks like Django and Flask. Good understanding of various Python libraries like NumPy, SciPy, Panda etc. Recent experience with Kafka and React is highly preferred.
