We are seeking a Project Control Officer (PCO) to support large-scale enterprise initiatives within a major Canadian financial institution. The PCO plays a critical role in ensuring projects remain aligned with approved budget, schedule, scope, and governance requirements.

Working closely with Project Managers and Program Leadership, the PCO provides operational oversight, reporting, and coordination to ensure successful project delivery.


Duration - 6 months plus extension

Work Mode - Hybrid - 3 days per week in the office downtown Toronto


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update project schedules, milestones, and dependencies to ensure alignment with project timelines.
  • Track budgets, forecasts, and financials, including timesheets, resource allocations, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare and maintain project status reports, dashboards, and executive reporting materials.
  • Monitor and track risks, issues, and action items, ensuring proper documentation and escalation where required.
  • Coordinate project meetings, working sessions, and stakeholder communications.
  • Ensure project documentation and artifacts are maintained according to PMO governance standards.
  • Support the project manager with planning, tracking, and project controls to maintain delivery discipline.
  • Assist with project audits, governance checkpoints, and compliance reporting.

Must Haves

  • 7+ years of experience in a Project Control Officer (PCO), Project Coordinator, or PMO Analyst role.
  • Experience supporting large enterprise or financial services projects.
  • Strong knowledge of project governance, reporting, and financial tracking.
  • Experience managing project schedules, risks, issues, and action logs.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, JIRA, Clarity, or similar PMO tools.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint for reporting and dashboards.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.


Nice to Haves

  • Experience working in banking or financial services environments.
  • Familiarity with PMO frameworks and governance models.
  • PMP, CAPM, or other project management certifications considered an asset.
