Description
Our valued healthcare client is seeking a Senior Oracle / AWS Database Administrator to support new data access management automation initiatives!
Initial 7-month contract (hybrid), with strong possibility of extension. 7.25 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Only candidates with the ability to work on-site in North York, ON or Ottawa, ON will be considered.
As the successful candidate you will be supporting new data access management automation initiatives for the organization's data lake in S3 and Redshift. In addition to automating data access management processes, the ESP DBA will be responsible for performing regular DBA tasks, including but not limited to backup and restore operations, patching, managing Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM), and other RDBMS-related (such as Oracle, MySQL, Aurora, Redshift, etc.) activities.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement automation database role-based access control solution cross all different database types within the org, with a focus on Redshift, MySQL, Oracle
- Install, manage, maintain, patch, upgrade, monitor and performance tuning on Oracle instances on AWS EC2 environments, Grid Infrastructure, ASM, supporting the full lifecycle of Database environments.
- Install, manage, maintain, patch, upgrade, monitor and performance tuning on AWS RDS, Aurora, and Redshift instances and Clusters, ensuring stability, security, and performance.
- Design, test, and implement backup and recovery procedures for all internal databases on all platforms. Provide input to maintain and support the org's disaster recovery strategy.
- Define, maintain and implement robust security and access policies to ensure security of the organization's data holdings; participate in the planning, implementation, maintenance, and support of security controls.
- Continuously identify and resolve inefficiencies in current databases and make recommendations on improvements and automation opportunities.
Required Skills:
- Experience as a Database Administrator for Oracle 19c database or above, and MySQL 8 or above.
- 5+ years of experience working with AWS RDS, Aurora, Redshift.
- 5+ years of experience in Oracle RDBMS management and maintenance on Linux platform with Specific experience in Oracle ASM and RMAN, AWS RDS Oracle/AWS Aurora/AWS Redshift.
- Solid knowledge working with RDBMS architecture, Database backup/recovery, Security/Auditing, and Integrity.
- Experience of Database security role solution design and implementation
- Experience on performance monitoring and database tuning, Oracle PLSQL/Code tuning.
- Hands on experience and strong knowledge of Unix Shell and Python script.
Nice-to-have Skills:
- Experience with Oracle APEX is an asset
