Senior Mainframe Developer (IMS/DB2/PL1) with experience with legacy applications

Our insurance client is looking for a Senior Mainframe Developer (IMS/DB2/PL1) with experience with legacy applications

Duration: 1 year

Location: Winnipeg or London or Regina or Toronto office - on site 3 days a week

On call - Participate in a 24x7 - 6 person On-call team rotation

Responsibilities:

• Provide Leadership
• Design, develop and test software to specifications.
• Support production (includes 24x7 on call support).
• Provide consultation with the Systems Architect and Business Systems Analyst.
• Participate in project planning and assessments.
• Deliver code reviews and provide feedback relative to best practices.
• Coach and mentor staff.

Must Haves:

• A degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum of 8+ years of experience in a software developer role.
• Mainframe development experience
• IMS/DB2 and Pl1
• Two or more of the following application development environment languages and tools: PL/1, JCL, CICS, SQL, DB2, CA7, IMSDC/DB.
• IT experience and the ability to understand and effectively work with legacy technologies and contribute as legacy applications evolve and are either decommitted are migrated to new platforms.

Nice to Haves:

• Exposure to ChangeMan and file transfer tools would also be an asset.
• Experience in analysis, design, development, testing, documentation, implementation and 24/7 production support would be an asset.
• Knowledge of Insurance is an asset.
